In the seven years since he was paroled from prison

Between stops for bacon-wrapped ribs and a hammy photo with the super bull, Scott Brown didn’t introduce himself to many Iowans.

Brown, a Republican former U.S. senator from Massachusetts, strolled for over two hours today through the Iowa State Fair, an annual 11-day event that’s a magnet for politicians who might want to run for the White House.

Few Iowa fairgoers recognized him as he ate his very first corn dog, drank a couple beers at the Bud Tent, shot a bunch of photos of his wife, Gail Huff, posed in front of the fair’s main attractions (the butter cow, a deep-fried Oreo stand, the Big Boar) and did three local news interviews.

“It’s very easy to go up to people, like, ‘Hey!’ But people don’t want that, like that lady,” Brown said, referring to a woman he talked to, without introducing himself, outside the Clydesdales barn. The Cases for HTC One to keep your aluminium clad device free of scratches. “Word will get out that I was here,Extend the power on your iphone 5 back cover with the mophie juice pack. and she’ll tell friends. You keep coming back, keep coming back, keep coming back and you build up that familiarity. I hate it when politicians show up at places right before an election and that’s it. It’s the only time you see them. I’m from the philosophy, you show up as much as you can throughout your cycle so that it’s more like, ‘Hey, Scott, where you been?’ versus, ‘Hi, who are you.’”

When a WHO-TV cameraman asked Brown what people could read into his visit to the fair in Iowa, the state where the race for the presidency kicks off every four years, he answered: “You can read into that that I’m very hungry. Going to eat a lot of calories.”

He told The Des Moines Register on Saturday that he’s scoping out whether Iowa would be favorable to his brand of Republicanism – fiscally conservative, open minded on social issues, dedicated to bipartisan problem-solving.

This weekend, he and his wife, an Iowa native who competed in a state fair skillet-tossing championship as a girl, are on a family vacation to see friends and relatives in South Dakota and Iowa, where he made his premier visit to the state fair here.

In the seven years since he was paroled from prison, Johnnie Lee Savory found a job and home in Chicago, took up playing chess near Michigan Avenue and became a volunteer mentor to inmates cleared of wrongdoing and freed after years of incarceration.

But Savory, who spent nearly 30 years behind bars for his conviction in a 1977 double murder in Peoria, says he held off on marrying and starting a family because his own longtime quest for exoneration still wasn't over.

Evidence in his case had never been tested for DNA, even though Savory was one of the first convicted felons in Illinois to seek the testing under a state law passed in 1998. His long legal fight has seen the Illinois Supreme Court and a federal appeals court deny him DNA testing in groundbreaking rulings that have since been cited in hundreds of other court cases.

Then earlier this month, a Peoria County judge ruled in Savory's favor, concluding the evidence should be tested. The cases for iphone 5 remains the most popular smartphone phone on the market. Savory heard the news while he was helping set up cellphone service for Daniel Taylor, who was exonerated in June after spending almost 20 years in prison for a murder that took place elsewhere while he was held in a Chicago police lockup.

Judge Stephen Kouri pointed out in his ruling that the tests could be inconclusive or even implicate Savory. But Savory and his lawyers remain confident that the testing will clear his name and possibly solve a 36-year-old double homicide.
